I found myself in the presence of legends when I was commissioned to create a piece inspired by The Wild Bunch. Meeting actors who portrayed the rebellious, gritty characters in the iconic film made me realize I wasn’t just painting a movie cast—I was capturing the spirit of defiance that shaped a generation.
Over whiskey and late-night conversations, we delved into their experiences on set, their take on the shift from the classic Western to a more raw, realistic depiction of the West. The challenge was to portray not just a scene from the movie, but the undercurrent of rebellion that defined it. I layered textures to evoke dust, blood, and sweat—the elements of a harsh world where honor was scarce but fiercely defended.
