Roy Rogers wasn’t just a cowboy—he was the cowboy. Meeting with his family and hearing their stories of the man behind the legend helped me understand how deeply Roy’s values of kindness, honor, and courage ran through everything he did.
As I began his portrait, I knew it had to reflect more than just his famous smile. It had to show the heart of a man who became a hero to generations of children. Using soft pastels and warm lighting, I captured the iconic image of Roy atop his horse, Trigger, riding off into the sunset—a symbol of hope, adventure, and enduring heroism.
This wasn’t just a portrait of a man—it was a portrayal of a legend who lived his life as a beacon of goodness in a sometimes harsh world.
