Creating a portrait of Ronald Reagan was both a challenge and a privilege. The former actor-turned-president was a figure who transcended Hollywood and politics, becoming an American icon. Meeting with people who knew Reagan personally gave me insight into his charisma, his humor, and his unwavering belief in the American Dream.
In the studio, I focused on blending the two sides of Reagan—the movie star and the statesman. His portrait needed to convey the optimism he brought to the nation and the strength of character that made him a beloved leader. I used bold strokes to capture his larger-than-life persona but softened the edges to reflect the warmth and charm he was known for.
