James Drury, famously known for his role in The Virginian, welcomed me into his world with a quiet confidence that mirrored his onscreen character. As we shared stories, Drury expressed his deep connection to the character that defined his career. For his portrait, I wanted to honor the integrity of both the actor and his character. I used dark, moody colors to evoke the tension of the frontier, and highlighted Drury’s sharp, thoughtful expression.
